Finn Wolfhard Confirms He Was in the Final Scene of Stranger Things 5
Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, has revealed that he was part of the final scene filmed for the last season.
Production for season 5 lasted an entire year and wrapped up in December 2024. Throughout the filming process, various photos and videos from the sets were leaked. On the very last day of filming, Wolfhard was spotted alongside David Harbour. Now the actor has confirmed that he was indeed part of the last scene shoot for Stranger Things.
Finn Wolfhard Opens Up About the Final Day of Filming
During an interview with Tom Power, Finn opened up about the emotional atmosphere on the sets during the final days. He said:
“I was the last thing shot for the show. I was basically one of the last people to film. I was in denial the whole year—I kept thinking, ‘Whatever, it’s just another season. Let’s try to have as much fun as we can.’ And then it was like, “Okay, month six, halfway through. We’re at the halfway point.” Suddenly, everything was the final this, the final that—the final table read, the final take. On the last day, I was just kind of totally numb.
Then came the final scene, and it just hit me all at once. It was like the final, where I was just like, “Okay, we know that this is it. This is the final thing we’re going to film.” It was like everything came into perspective so quickly. It was so otherworldly and weird. I was surrounded by cast members who had already wrapped, but they stayed to be there for the ending. It honestly felt like another dimension—so surreal, so otherworldly.
I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, this is it.’ It was incredibly emotional. We all grew up on this show. The Duffer Brothers were in their 30s when they started, and now they’re in their 40s. It was a huge moment. We were all just there, together, celebrating and mourning. It was the end of something so special.”
Stranger Things Cast Shared a Real-Life Bond Off Set
He also talked about the strong bond he shares with the cast and how much he misses their everyday routine.
“I miss everyone. We all lived in the same neighborhood. So every day I would text the group chat being like, “Does anyone want any coffee or whatever?” And then you go and we’d all hang out in Charlie Heaton’s backyard.”
Was Mike and Hopper’s Final Moment the Last Scene Ever?
As mentioned earlier, Wolfhard and Harbour were spotted filming a scene on the last day of production. It was reportedly a very emotional and heartbreaking scene, which was evident from the footage. In one clip, Hopper is consoling Mike before walking away. Later, Mike was seen sitting alone, staring blankly into the distance.

The behind-the-scenes footage quickly went viral, speculating on countless theories. Some believe that Eleven might sacrifice herself in the final season to save the Hawkins crew. This would explain why Mike Wheeler looked heartbroken. Wolfhard previously hinted that Mike Wheeler’s ending was bittersweet, adding fuel to speculations.
