Now it’s the same grandfather clock from the Creel home we’ve seen all season. When we learn the truth about the Hawkins Lab massacre, an adult Henry delivers a speech about his disgust at the work-eat-sleep mentality of regular humans.

“I could not close off my mind and join in the madness,” he says. “I could not pretend. And then I realized … I didn’t have to. I could make my own rules. I could restore balance to a broken world.”

Just as Henry is talking about making his own rules, we see a flashback to young Henry using his powers to rewind that same clock. “The fact that that happened last in that sequence of events to come,” this TikTok user said. “I think it means it ties to something we haven’t see yet — like time travel in Season 5.”

Apart from that, the series has featured some more hints at time travel. In season 3 put Back to the Future is put on full display at the Hawkins mall, which is again a reference to time travel. The most significant reference, however, is right at the start of Season 4 in Eleven’s letter to Mike as she wrote,

“Dear Mike, Today is day 185. Feels more like 10 years. Joyce says time is funny like that. Emotions can make it speed up or slow down. We are all time travelers if you think about it…”

If Vecna can time travel, then we can assume El can too. So it looks like in season 5, Eleven is going to lose against Vecna which will force her to travel back in time and fix everything. She will manage to kill Vecna but it will be a sacrificial act though, and both El and Vecna won’t exist in the new timeline.
