Production on Stranger Things season 4 was halted due to the pandemic back in March 2020. Fortunately, filming started back up again in late September with restrictions. Stranger Things season three concluded with some big questions to answer with the season finale being a massive 77-minute titled ‘The Battle of Starcourt’. Luckily Netflix sci-fi horror will eventually be back for season four, which means all of those loose ends could eventually be tied out.

Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date

There is no official release date for Stranger Things 4 as of now. The only thing we know for sure is that the show will premiere in 2022. The filming started back in March 2020 and was underway for about a month when the COVID-19 pandemic cut production short. It resumed again in late September and now the filming is finally wrapped up.

It is interesting to note that each season came out around the time of year when it took place — i.e. Season 2 was set during Halloween and was released in October, Season 3 took place over summer break and came out around the 4th of July.  The fact that the upcoming season takes place during the school year, many fans hoped that it would premiere in the fall of 2021. However, the teaser announced that Season 4 would drop sometime in 2022.

Stranger Things Cast on Season 4

In September, Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) said in an interview that filming had wrapped up.  “We just finished last week… yeah we’re done. We’ve been filming forever. And we’re finally done. They’re putting together another teaser.”

On the other hand, the actor Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) has teased that Stranger Things season 4 will be messy.

Meanwhile, producer Shawn Levy revealed that season four is taking longer than anyone expected.

‘I’ll simply say the epidemic undoubtedly delayed shooting and, as a result, the introduction of our current Season 4,’ stated producer Shawn Levy. “However, it had a really beneficial impact by allowing the Duffer brothers to write the full season before we shot it, for the first time ever, and to have time to rework in a way that they had rarely had before, so the quality of these screenplays is remarkable, perhaps better than ever.’

After analyzing all the information, it is expected that Stranger Things Season will arrive in March/April 2022.
