As Stranger Things reaches its final season, it is anticipated that some major characters will die. Certain characters are more likely to meet their demise than others.

It comes as no surprise that the top spot is held by Vecna. He is the heavy favourite as Vecna is the main antagonist and will likely die at the end of the series.

Will Byers is One of the Favourites to Die in Season 5

After Vecna, the next spot on the list is Will Byers. This comes as quite shocking as Will already had a tragic journey in Stranger Things. He was abducted by the Demogorgon and is still connected to the Upside Down. He is also gay and has an unrequited love for Mike Wheeler.

In season 5 Will is expected to play a crucial role in the battle with Vecna.

It doesn’t help that Noah Schnapp faced massive backlash after his comments on social media. This controversy led to petitions that demanded Will Byers to be killed off at the start of season 5.

Following Will Byers, Eleven and Jim Hopper are next on the list. Eleven’s potential death makes sense as she will have to face Vecna in an ultimate battle. One popular theory suggests Eleven might sacrifice herself to save her friends and Hawkins. Although Hopper has already escaped death in season 3, he might not be so lucky in the last season.

The next is Steve Harrington, whose death would be a major blow since he is a fan favourite. He is followed by Max, who almost died in season 4 but was rescued by Eleven. However, she was recently brought back to life so it is unlikely that Max will die.

Earlier Millie Bobby Brown and Gaten Matarazzo have said that Stranger Things should kill more characters. While talking with CBR, Gaten said,

“It might sound messed up but we should kill more people. This show would be so much better if the stakes were much higher, like at any moment any of these kids can kick it. I feel like we’re all too safe.”
