David Harbour Says Stranger Things 5 Finale Left the Cast in Tears
Stranger Things star David Harbour has revealed that the season 5 finale is so emotional, it brought the cast to tears during the table read.
The 50-year-old actor, who plays fans’ favourite Jim Hopper, is currently gearing up for the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that fans should brace themselves for a deeply moving conclusion.
David Harbour Says Stranger Things 5 Will Have a Clear Ending
Speaking to E! News at the Los Angeles premiere of his new film Thunderbolts,* Harbour opened up about the ending of Stranger Things 5.
“I will say, that final episode, we did a read through and I’ve never seen children cry the way – they’re not children anymore, but the way those young actors cried. And I think that you’ll be no different, because we all grew up together – I mean, I grew up in a different way – for those 10 years that we’ve been doing the show.”
The actor also praised the Duffer Brothers and revealed that Stranger Things will have a definite and satisfying ending.
“It’s coming to an end, it’s a very clear ending, they’ve done something to make Stranger Things finish and that’s wonderful. I can’t wait for it to be this beautiful little gem.”

During another interview with Extra TV, Harbour again mentioned the impact of the final episode on the younger cast. He teased fans that they should prepare themselves for an emotional ride.
“I’m very excited to see, it’s coming later. We shot it for a year. Those Duffer Brothers, they know how to knock it out of the park, and they really know how to land the plane. The final episode is quite moving and we did a read through of just us, the kids and they were all weeping like I’ve never seen human beings weep, so I can’t wait. It’s going to be a day for you, a day and a half of bingeworthy weeping.”
The latest remarks from David Harbour have once again hinted that Stranger Things season 5 will have a bittersweet ending. Last year, Harbour and Finn Wolfhard were spotted filming an emotional scene for the finale. This led to speculation that a beloved character like Eleven or Will Byers might not survive the finale.
