For those who are unfamiliar, Byler is the shipping name for Stranger Things characters, Will Byers and Mike Wheeler. Over the seasons, the show has subtly hinted at Will’s romantic feelings for his best friend.

It was finally confirmed in season 4 that Will is gay in a heartbreaking scene. However, he still has yet to confess his true feelings to Mike.

Crazy Byler Theory Explained

As Stranger Things approaches its conclusion with season 5, Byler fans are actively discussing new theories and dreaming up new scenarios. One particular entertaining theory was shared on Reddit and involves a bit of a stretch.

The theory began when Ross Duffer shared a picture of Tic Tac from the sets of season 5. This led fans to recall a fun fact: Back in 2016, Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard revealed that they ate a whole tub of Tic Tac before their first kiss. It was Finn’s idea as he was very nervous on the sets.

As per this theory, Noah Schnapp might use these new Tic Tacs for his first kiss on screen as Will Byers. There is no prize for guessing that the first kiss of Will Byers will be with Mike Wheeler.

This might be the most outlandish Byler theory shared on the internet unless it is meant to be taken as satire. While fans can debate whether Byler will be the endgame in season 5, it’s clear that this theory does not provide any real hints.

Some Byler fans supported this theory but others were more skeptical. One such user pointed out that both actors are now adults and experienced. Thus they would not need Tic Tacs for their scenes.

Byler Future in Stranger Things 5

Whether this Tic Tac theory holds any truth is still unknown. Also, there is no concrete evidence that Mike Wheeler shares the same feelings towards Will Byers. Many fans view Will’s affection as unrequited love.

Mike Wheeler has been deeply in love with Eleven since season 1. Their relationship has faced many challenges and remains complex. It will be interesting to see how it evolves in the final season.

Last year, David Harbour claimed that Byler would not happen in season 5. During an interaction with fans at Motor City Comic Con, he said,

I don’t think there is a turn in Mike. Mike’s, a, you know, proclivity is pretty clear, he seems to love Eleven. So I’m sorry for all of you um -what do you call them?- by, byler, by, I don’t know if your ship is going to sail.”
