Stranger Things fans have eagerly awaited the commencement of filming for the final season. Finally, the filming date for Stranger Things 5 has been disclosed.

As previously mentioned, the series entered production a few days ago. The construction of expansive sets is ongoing and the Duffer Brothers have also arrived in Atlanta to commence their work on season 5. They have now teased the fans by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the sets.

Stranger Things Season 5 Filming Date

The latest reports have suggested that the filming for the final season will commence on January 8, 2024. The filming timeline will span nine months, running from January to September 2024. It will be followed by the post-production process, which will also take some time. Looking at the current schedule, it looks like Stranger Things season 5 will be ready for release sometime in 2025.

Although the filming has been pushed back to January 2024, the table read for season 5 is set to take place in the coming days. Actors like David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, and Charlie Heaton are already in Atlanta. Other cast members like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp will likely join them soon for the table read.

Yesterday, Ross Duffer shared new behind-the-scenes photos from the sets. He also mentioned that they have done a camera test featuring the characters Hopper, Nancy, Dustin, and Lucas.

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

The filming date might have been pushed back due to the approaching holiday season. But it’s reassuring that the table read is firmly on schedule and will occur within the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Netflix has expressed its intention to complete Stranger Things 5 filming as soon as possible. Their move is primarily driven by concerns related to the aging of the young cast. The filming was originally slated to commence in June 2023 but it faced delays due to the impact of the Writers and Actors strike.

Given the expected completion of filming in September 2024 and the subsequent 9-10 months required for post-production work, season 5 will have a potential release in the summer of 2025. Though a more realistic release date might be in late 2025, considering that season 5 will need extensive VFX work. It has already been speculated that season 5 is set around Christmas,which will make a fall release fitting and appealing.

As filming for Stranger Things 5 is on the horizon, Netflix finds itself grappling with new challenges. Intense demands have emerged for the replacement of actors Noah Schnapp and Brett Gelman in the upcoming season, sparked by controversies surrounding their actions on social media. Schnapp, in particular, faced significant backlash after appearing in a video endorsing stickers with controversial phrases, including “Zionism is Sexy.”

As of the current situation, there are no plans to remove any cast members from season 5. Despite the controversies, Noah Schnapp will soon join the rest of the cast in Atlanta for the final table read. Notably, season 5 is focused on the character of Will Byers, and hence Netflix has made the decision to retain Noah Schnapp.
