One of the major talking points of season 4 was origins of Vecna. The main antagonist of the season was terrifying and made fans feel uncomfortable. Who is Vecna, what is Vecna, and what does Vecna want with the teenagers in Hawkins?
In season 4, Eleven’s story takes an unexpected twists and turns. We learned little bits and pieces about Eleven in the first three seasons, but this might be one of the biggest developments we have seen yet. In Stranger Things season 4 part 1, fans will also learn about Number One, a person whose existence had been theorized and has now been confirmed. Who is the number One, how did he become 001, and what’s his connection to Eleven?

In season 4, Eleven she ends up back in a lab with Dr. Brenner. She’s forced to relive memories from her past. Within the memories Eleven relives, one particular involving a young worker attempting to help her break out of the lab. He asks Eleven to remove the tracker Brenner placed in his neck. Since she trusts him, she uses her powers to pull off tracker from his neck.
Unfortunately, Eleven comes to realize that the worker has tricked her. As Eleven realizes, it wasn’t a tracker at all; it was a device to subdue his powers. She walks through the lab to find that he’s killed everyone. It is at that time it is reveled that he’s Number One, and he has the 001 tattoo on his wrist to prove it.

We also learned that he’s Victor Creel’s son, Henry and he was the one responsible for killing his mother and sister. He used his powers to kill them but Henry slipped into a coma. Later Dr. Brenner actually took custody of Henry upon him waking up from his coma and faked his death. Over the next few years Dr. Brenner worked with Henry to develop the boy's powers.
After Number One finishes explaining all of this to Eleven, she uses her powers to defeat him. Somehow that opens up a gate to the Upside Down. Number One gets sucked into the Upside Down and is burned by powerful lightning, turning him into Vecna.
So, there you have it: Number One is both Victor Creel’s son and Vecna.
