Stranger Things season 5 has received a fresh tease from Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, promising that the upcoming season will be packed with emotions.

The hit Netflix show first premiered in 2016 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Now the much-beloved series is set to conclude with season 5 which will air later this year. With the story coming to an end, fans can expect major character arcs to reach their emotional conclusion.

In a recent interview with Variety, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos teased that Stranger Things 5 will be an emotional experience for audiences. He also revealed that he already knows how the story will wrap up.

“The final season of Stranger Things is a thrill ride, but an emotional thrill ride. There won’t be a dry eye. I do know how it ends.”

“I think Stranger Things is a big universe. You see it in novelizations of the story and the characters, you see it in consumer products, you see it in the live stage show, which is a prequel to Stranger Things, which is playing hugely successfully on the West End now, and it’s going to be opening on Broadway in a few months.”

Earlier Stranger Things cast members have talked about the emotional experience of saying farewell to the series. Finn Wolfhard who plays Mike Wheeler in the show talked about filming the final episode of Stranger Things 5. During an interview with Variety, he said,

“It was incredibly emotional, obviously. It’s the last 10 years of my life. Also for the creators, the Duffer Bros. started when they were 30 and now they are 40. Everyone had a long journey and shared it together. My whole childhood was there. It was sort of the ‘Toy Story 3’ moment of leaving your toys behind. It was really special.”

Sadie Sink also said that it was really difficult to say goodbye to Stranger Things. Millie Bobby Brown shared similar sentiments during a separate interview, emphasizing just how much the show has meant to her and the rest of the cast.

With the final season on the horizon, it’s clear that Stranger Things 5 will be an emotional farewell for both the characters and fans around the world.
