Predicting The Fates of Stranger Things Main Characters in Season 5

After leaving us with an intense and emotional period of demons, celebrations, and Mind Flayer craziness, Stranger Things Season 5 is set to be marked as the most interesting chapter yet. With Hawkins under military lockdown, portals still open, and the Upside Down slowly invading, fans are bracing for a finale where no character is safe.

Netflix has announced that Stranger Things Season 5 is going to be the last chapter, and the Duffer Brothers have planned to make it go “full circle.”, making it interconnected with the first and initial chapter in surprising twists.

So, let’s delve into each character one by one, exploring the fandom and lore, which carry emotional roots, spark fans’ interest, and fuel crazy assumptions about the fates of Stranger Things’ main characters in Season 5.

Will Byers: Beginning From Victim to Villain… or Savior?

Poor Will Byers. Ever since the beginning of the first season, when the vanishing act happened, he has been a magnetic body attracting traumas. And now, it looks like his whole journey is becoming a full circle.

The Season 5 trailer depicts that Will is an emotional broadcaster, and some fans are assuming that he is going to be the ticking bomb that could either kill Vecna or end up becoming him.
One of the theories also claims that there is still a part of Mind Flyer left inside him. Other says, Vecna is going to pull Will towards him, to maybe use him as a vessel. Remember that painting Mike got in Season 4 by him? Some think it was a hidden forecast.

But this is not the whole idea. Will could likely be the one to turn the tables around by unlocking the latent powers and helping defeat Vecna forever. Will’s fate might be the emotional kicker of the season. By either saving Hawkins or ending up being the reason for its downfall.

Max Mayfield: A Coma, a Trap, or a Comeback?

Max is alive, but just barely. After her showdown with Vecna, she has been in a coma, which left her with broken bones, blindness, and a nearly dead brain. But this is not the end of her story.
According to the fans, her mind is trapped in-between life and the Upside Down. Some assume that she might have transformed into Vecna’s secret tool by which he will use to spy on the team, more like a puppet doing everything on command.

On the contrary, some believe that she will come back claiming her body again and destroy the monster who tried to trouble her.
She could be the hero, a spy, or a ghost as her fate is entirely connected with Vecna’s will.

Eleven Vs Vecna: The Final War No One Is Ready For

This is clearly one of the most obvious and horrifying plots. Second round of what has been built up to Eleven vs Venca. This time, she was not able to stop him, but this time, it is definitely personal.

There are many theories that Eleven is going to choose her sacrifice for the sake of her friends and close the Upside Down for good. Some of the fans are considering that Vecna and Eleven are two sides of the same coin, as both are products of the same lab, which are tied by fate.

There is a floating theory around that Eleven might not be able to defeat Vecna with her extreme power and force, but through empathy. What is she trying to link with the only weakness of the broken humanity pattern of Henry, and ends up giving him something that he deserves the most he never had before… forgiveness. Sounds wild? Isn’t it, but Stranger Things is based on unexpected and unimaginable twists.

Still, a more likely turn is a mad psychic battle, possibly lies deep in the core of the Upside Down, where Eleven pushes her power past the limit for the very last time. Expect flashbacks, emotional callbacks, and a scene that could leave her either victorious or completely shattered.

One thing is for sure, this time… only one walks away.

Jonathan and Nancy’s Shadowed Paths

They might not be the main points of the story like Eleven and Will. But Jonathan and Nancy could prove to be the powerful triggers in Season 5. Many fans highlight the poster theory, where the characters shown in the initial seasons predict those who might die.

Nancy is becoming stronger and stronger than in Season 1, where Jonathan is stuck between love and purpose. Many fans predict that at least one of them will die in this battle. If someone from the “core crew” dies, the clever money is on one of these three.

Steve, Robin, and Dustin: Love, Loss, and Loyalty

We completely adore all of them. Which makes sure of the fact that either of them is going to shatter our hearts into pieces.
Steve Harrington has been voted out the most by fans, likely to die since Season 3. His revitalization curve is near perfection, so a heroic sacrifice feels… inevitable.

Meanwhile, Robin progresses nonstop as a lovable, awkward, and genius. She can lose someone close to her in case death is not going to choose her. While Eddie’s death still breaks Dustin, he might take center stage emotionally. He can be placed at the heart of the gang or chosen as Vecna’s next target.

Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers: The Jopper Date?

They are one of the most likely couples in Stranger Things and we feel the Jopper nation would be hoping for them to have a happy ending.

Hopper has already been brought back from the dead once and it is unlikely that he will face the same fate once again. Meanwhile, Joyce Byers has suffered a lot since season 1 due to Will Byers. We do think she needs a break from all the chaos.

Likely, Hopper and Joyce will finally have their planned date in the finale.

Mike Wheeler and Lucas Sinclair: Will Play a Critical Role

Mike Wheeler has always been the heart of the group, leading with emotions since season 1. He is the emotional magnet and maybe the most defenseless. While we believe Mike will survive the finale but might lose Eleven in the ultimate fight, leaving him shattered.

Lucas, on the other hand, is expected to play a key role in saving Max, helping her regain consciousness. The teaser trailer even shows them hiding from a demogorgon. If all goes well, Lucas might not only survive but he could finally get the movie date with Max.

The Wildcards: Kali, Holly Wheeler, and Linda Hamilton’s Dr. Kay

These are the characters no one is talking about, but maybe we should discuss.

Kali, who is the sister of Eleven, has not been seen by anyone since Season 2. Is it not possible that she can come back to help her sister out for defeating Vecna once and for all? Holly Wheeler, the little sister of Mike, proves to be an interesting subject of a rising theory, which claims that she will be “taken” early in Season 5 to raise the bar emotionally.

Dr. Kay leaves to be a complete mystery, as played by Linda Hamilton. What is she? A military figure? A secret villain? A mother figure to the next generation? The missing pieces of the puzzle could be dangerous to the finale.

Eddie Munson’s Legacy: The Ultimate Return of Kas?

eddie munson

Isn’t he dead right, or is he? Fans cannot give up on the fact that Eddie Munson’s return will be by the end of Season 5. One of the Dungeons and Dragons theory give his return as the title of “Kas the bloody-handed”, a vampire fighter who is going to deceive Vecna in the game traditions.

There lies a theory stating that Vecna is going to change himself into Eddie as part of the army he holds. Also, Dustin’s emotional link with him will be the reason that’s going to bring him back to light.

Eddie’s fate could be the wild card of the whole story, whether by being a ghost, a villain, or a surprise rescuer.

Final Predictions: Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Surprises Us All?

Eleven: Likely to sacrifice herself, or step into a limbo state to seal the Upside Down. A bittersweet ending feels fitting.

Max Mayfield: 50/50 chance. She may return just long enough to give her final goodbyes or help from inside the Mind Lair.

Eddie Munson: A shocking return as Kas could be the reason to slip the script. But in case he comes back, there should be heartbreak that one should be expecting.

Steve Harrington: Most likely to end up as a hero. Maybe for the sake of saving Dustin or Nancy.

Mike Wheeler: Might Survive, but possibly he will be left emotionally broken. A quiet tragedy but not a loud one.

Lucas Sinclair: He will live while trying to save Max. They may get their movie date.

Nancy and Jonathan: One of them might not be able to make it, possibly Nancy, to push Steve or Mike’s arcs forward.

Hopper and Joyce: Likely to have a happy ending.

Dr. Kay and Military Arc: Possibly the true villains of the final chapter. Do not trust the lab coats!

Vecna: He will fall, but not easily. It might take more than one death to be the reason for his return.

Not every ending is a happy ending, but it still can be a powerful one.

Conclusion: Saying Goodbye to Hawkins

Who Lives, Who Dies? Predicting Every Character’s Fate in Stranger Things 5

Stranger Things Season 5 is not just the final chapter; it is all about seeing the emotional departure of the characters we grew up watching. From the town of Hawkins becoming a land of war, and the bonds of friendship that felt real even in the middle of sci-fi craziness. From the thrilling journey of Eleven’s identity to the trauma of Will. Either it is the recovery of Steve or to courage of Dustin, every character went through tests, and Season 5 is going to be the finale.

Will we cry? Probably. Will we scream? Definitely.

But despite all of these assumptions and gossips, one thing is for sure, that we will watch Season 5, not because it has been about monster fights, though it has never been. But because it is what we have grown up watching, watching a world that does not make sense at all, and still chooses to fight anyway.

As the last Season comes closer, remember:

“Friends do not lie.” But the Upside Down? It never reveals the whole truth. And in the end, maybe that is exactly what makes Season 5’s fate predictions so thrilling and exciting. We still believe there is some hope left, leaving us all even more curious.
