Recently, Netflix released a new documentary about the making of the stage show Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The documentary has hinted that the final season of Stranger Things will have a major reveal.

Stranger Things season 5 is still far away, with a release expected later this year. While there are no promos for season 5 yet, fans have picked up on some intriguing hints thanks to the new documentary by Netflix.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is Canon to the Story

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a prequel that tells the backstory of Henry Creel and his troubled childhood. Set in 1959 Hawkins, the play also features young versions of Joyce Byers, Bob Newby and Jim Hopper. It has been officially confirmed as canon and will tie directly into the events of the final season.

Writer Kate Trefy revealed to SFX Magazine that fans will get their first glimpse of season 5 through the play. She said,

“There are referential sequences and imagery and callbacks and flashbacks to the events of the play in Stranger Things season 5 that will still make sense to you if you don’t see the play, but you’ll have a deeper understanding of them if you do. It’s in conversation with the seasons prior and the season to come. It really informs everything that you have seen and will see.”

The play has already revealed many secrets from the Stranger Things universe. It showed how Henry Creel got his superpowers, the heartbreaking past of Joyce and Hopper and also fueled many theories for season 5. But the real buzz began after a scene from the documentary went viral, hinting at a much bigger secret still to come.

Stranger Things 5 Will Have a Massive Reveal

In one moment from the documentary, The First Shadow writer Kate Trefy discusses a scene they intentionally left vague in the play because they want to preserve the reveal for the final season. She said,

“We’re gonna be able to tell very little of the story of [BLEEP]. We’re gonna be able to say that something happened, um, but we’re really not gonna be able to say that much. Because they want to preserve the reveal for season 5… [BLEEP]”

This has led to widespread speculations among the fans that season 5 will have a major twist.

Will Patty Newby Appear in Stranger Things 5?

Patty Newby is the sister of Bob Bewby and the girlfriend of Henry Creel and appeared in the play. She has not been mentioned in the series yet,  but several theories claim that she could be the key to defeating Vecna.

One such theory says that Patty Newby might be Ms. Kelley, a counselor at Hawkins High School introduced in season 4. She was seen wearing a clock necklace, leading some to suspect a connection to Vecna. While others point to the fact that Henry Creel kept a diary in the play, which Patty takes at the end. The diary might contain the crucial details in understanding Vecna’s power and the Upside Down mysteries.

Is Vecna Eleven’s Father in Stranger Things?

One of the most discussed theories on the internet is the idea that Vecna is Eleven’s father. The theory suggests that Dr Brenner wanted to clone 001 (Henry Creel) in the laboratory. Hence, he made Henry impregnate Terry Ives (Eleven’s mother). This would explain why Eleven inherited superpowers and why Henry Creel displayed a unique connection to her in season 4.

The theory was further fueled after the release of Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The play ended with Henry Creel holding newborn Eleven and saying,  “I am excited to see you, 011. I have plans for us.” The final scene led to widespread speculations that Vecna is the father of Eleven.

If confirmed, this would be one of the most shocking twists in Stranger Things history.

The Secret Connection Between Will Byers and Vecna

There are several parallels between Will Byers and Vecna in Stranger Things. Both were sensitive kids who were misunderstood by people and faced bullying. They were also taken to the Upside Down as kids, an experience that changed their lives completely.
