David Harbour Promises Huge Plot Payoffs in Stranger Things 5
Two major parental figures in Stranger Things are Hawkins Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) and Dr. Martin Brenner, also known as Papa (Matthew Modine). Both of the actors recently appeared at the Tampa Bay Comic Convention to discuss the upcoming season.
During the panel, David Harbour shared some exciting new insights about the final season of Stranger Things and what fans can expect from the epic conclusion.
Harbour promised that season 5 will wrap up the OG storylines in a meaningful way. In particular, he emphasized that it will address and resolve the connection between Hopper and Joyce Byers. In fact, Harbour revealed that his favorite scene from the series is in season 5 with Winona Ryder. He also said that there will be a heartfelt payoff for Hopper’s role as a father figure to Eleven.
Season 5 also needs to resolve the love triangle between Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve, and another emotionally complex one involving Mike Wheeler, Eleven, and Will Byers.
Stranger Things 5 is Five Times Bigger Than Season 4
Harbour also said that the fifth season is 5 times bigger than the previous season.
“We shot it all last year. It took a year to make for eight episodes, which is a very long time to shoot a TV show. It’s extremely cinematic. It’s extremely big. If you watched the show, and you’re a fan of the show, you’ve seen each season get progressively bigger. Season Four was massive with multiple locations, helicopters, labs, Demogorgons, Creel, Vecna, the Upside Down.
“But Season 5 is five times the size. The scope and scale of the production was immense,. It almost killed all of us, but we are still around.”
The Emotional Final Day of Stranger Things 5 Filming
According to Harbour, the final day on the set was a deeply emotional one for everyone, especially for the younger cast members.
“On the last day of shooting, I wasn’t scheduled to film and I had stuff to but I was like, ‘No, I want to go. I had to be there. It was a bunch of the kids on set, and it was honestly beautiful. Because I think one of the most beautiful things about the show is, these kids all grew up on the show.
I was there that final day, and just… the amount of crying. You know, when your kid graduates from college, or whatever, you’re so proud. The amount of tears coming out of these children, it was pretty beautiful.”
Harbour’s remarks have revealed he wasn’t part of the final scene filmed; it was just a bunch of the kids. Earlier, Finn Wolfhard revealed that the last thing to shoot in Stranger Things 5. During the final days of filming, Finn and Harbour were spotted shooting an emotional scene. Some fans thought it could be the final scene filmed for season 5.

We would love if the final scene of Stranger Things is a nostalgic callback, featuring Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas playing Dungeons & Dragons. But for now, all we can do is wait for Stranger Things Season 5.
