Celebrating 4 Years of Stranger Things 2

October 31, 2024

It’s been four years since the second season of Stranger Things aired as it was released on 27th October 2017. Apart from the main cast, the show also featured new characters; Mad Max (Sadie Sink), Bily Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery), and Bob Newby (Sean Astin).

Today we are gonna look at the six best moments from Stranger Things season 2.

1. Justice for Barb

For those who don’t remember, Barb was Nancy’s best friend in season 1. She was attacked by the Demogorgon and was stuck in the Upside Down. Hopper and Joyce found her dead body in the Upside Down when they were searching for Will. There was not a proper farewell for her in the show. It was one of the main talking points for fans as they thought that nobody cared for Barb.

Hence a campaign Justice For Barb was started and the actress who played Barb also joined the moment by posting it on Twitter. Barb didn’t come back from the dead but this season showed that she was not completely forgotten. Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) have dinner with the parents in season 2. She was finally properly laid to rest with a funeral and in a way, justice was served.

2. Mike and Will’s Friendship

Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was missing for most of season 1 as he was in Upside Down. In this season the relationship between him and Mike as best friends was beautifully conveyed. When Will was possessed by Mind Flayer, he still managed to communicate with Mike through Morse code. Noah Schnapp also impressed the fans with his acting skills as he portrayed a possessed Will.

3. Sean Astin’s Heroic Death

The death of Bob Newby was a bit predictable but Sean Astin still managed to win hearts with his incredible performance. He was the boyfriend of Joyce Byers and worked as the manager at the town’s local Radio Shack. He gave solid advice to Will about standing up to his fears. Before his death, he was planning to move away from Hawkins along with Joyce and her sons.

Despite being obvious, it was still sad to see our superhero go.

4. Mad Max

Max (Sadie Sink) was a new character introduced in season 2 and instantly became the fans’ favorite. She became the love interest of Lucas and Dustin while Mike did not like her initially. She was putting up a lot from home with her stepbrother Billy Hargrove but she still managed to stand on her own. At the end of season 2, she joined the Hawkins gang.

5. Halloween Celebration

Season 2 was themed at Halloween and we did see the characters celebrating it in style. The gang Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas wore Ghostbusters costumes that looked incredibly beautiful. It was a nice touch to see a reference from the ’80s.

6. Prom

The second season was closed with a prom and brought all the characters together. However, it was not a happy ending for all; especially Dustin who was then consoled by Nancy after being ignored by Max and the other girls. But it was nice to see them together dancing to the tunes of Time After Time.
