Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo has confirmed the release window for the show’s final season.

One of Netflix’s biggest hits is set to conclude with its upcoming super-sized season 5. Fans have been eagerly awaiting to see more Stranger Things since the fourth season premiered back in 2022.

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Window

Stranger Things 5 is currently in production and the filming will continue through the end of this year. Given the show’s heavy reliance on VFX, post-production will take a significant amount of time. Despite this, Gaten Matrazzo is confident that the final season will be ready for release in 2025.

While speaking to The Direct, Matrazzo shared an update on the release window for the highly anticipated final season.

“The plan for people seeing it is definitely next year. That’s the goal. And theres’s always setbacks. There’s always things that come into play when making a season, especially one that’s huge. So there’s no guarantees, but I think next year is a safe bet.”

While Stranger Things fans would be relieved that they won’t have to wait forever, they should hope that the production will proceed smoothly. Earlier we saw that season 3 was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The filming for season 5 was also pushed due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes.

It’s also possible that we will not see the whole of Stranger Things 5 in 2025. Netflix will likely split season 5 into two volumes, with the first part arriving next year and the second potentially in 2026.

Gaten Matarazzo Teases Season 5 Ending

Matarazzo also teased that the final episodes will put the gang and the town of Hawkins to the test.

“The rest of the town, obviously, [are] now finally well aware that some sh-t is going down. I think it’s the same, like, vibe we know and love about this gang and getting on their adventures and, of course, the ultimate goal of stopping all this and preventing the Upside Down from infiltrating. But in the context of some pretty serious blows to the group. Of course, Dustin suffered a pretty serious loss at the end of four, and you witnessed the death of a really, really close friend.”
