Gaten Matarazzo recently gave fans a sneak peek into the emotional ending of Stranger Things and what might be in store for his character.

Filming for season 5 is well underway in Atlanta and there are only 4 months until the production wraps up. It has been revealed that the cast has now read the script for the final episode of Stranger Things season 5.

Stranger Things Cast has Read the Script for Final Episode

While the cast has already read through the first seven episodes of season 5, they gathered to read the script for the final episode on Gaten Matarazzo’s 22nd birthday.

Reflecting on this emotional moment, Matarazzo shared his experience during a broadcast.

“I was like, do I want this to be my birthday? Adorably enough, [Millie Bobby Brown] and [Noah Schnapp] made me a cake the night before. Then it smooshed on the way over and settled weird—it was very reminiscent of Hagrid’s cake to Harry in the first ‘Harry Potter.’ But it was enough to make me feel emotional just in that moment, before we even sat down to read it.”

He went on to describe the powerful emotions in the room as the cast prepared to read the series’ final chapter.

It was one of those [moments] where I’m like, ‘I’m not going to let anything get in the way of me feeling centered and loving of this room and this piece of paper and everybody here that’s reading this, because this is family.’ And it was really intense. It was really… It was a beautiful moment that I’m really glad that I have. After we’ve finally seen how it’s wrapping up, it really is just like: OK, now let’s just focus on doing it, now that we know what this arc is from [Season] 1 to 5.”

Will Any Main Characters Die in Stranger Things 5?

During an interview with Radio Times, Gaten teased the possibility of major character deaths in the final season.

“Everybody’s potentially in danger. That’s kind of what makes this show so exciting and what I think is going to make this season so exciting. We saw how intense [season] 4 was, we saw how everyone was surviving by the skin of their teeth in [season] 4, and we saw that some of them didn’t [survive] in [season] 4, and that’s going to continue in [season] 5. That’s why we have a show. You never really know what’s coming, and I think that that maintains itself really poignantly throughout [season] 5 and I’m excited for people to experience that, I’m excited for people to feel that fear. That’s what makes watching the show fun, you care about these people. You want them to do well, you want them to make.

Dustin Henderson Spin-off In Future

Gaten Matrazzo plays the much-beloved character Dustin Henderson in Stranger Things. The actor hinted at the possibility of a spin-off centered around his character after the series concludes.

“I would love to see, potentially, if there’s a continuation of Dustin after [season] 5, if any of us make it up to that point, I would love to see what would happen, what Dustin would be like as a 30-year-old. And I would love to see at tackling that, it could be a lot of fun.”
