Stranger Things Prequel Reveals Eddie Munson’s Tragic Past
Eddie Munson was one of the most popular figures in Stranger Things season 4. For those who want to learn more about their favourite character, Netflix is set to release a new novel that reveals his tragic past.
Joseph Quinn’s portrayal of a metalhead was one of the highlights of season 4. However, he had a heartbreaking ending after being killed in the Upside Down by demobats. This left fans so angry that they created a moment to bring the iconic character back. They even started an online petition which had more than 87k signatures. Well, we don’t know if Eddie will be back in season 5, but we do have more information about his past.
Stranger Things Flight of Icarus Details Eddie Munson’s Past
A few months back, Netflix announced a prequel novel based on Eddie Munson’s life. The book titled ‘Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus’ is written by Caitlin Schneiderhan who also works on the show. It is set two years before the events of Stranger Things season 4.
Entertainment Weekly has released an excerpt from the book that has details about Eddie’s relationship with his mother and music. It reveals that for him heavy metal music is an escape from the pain of losing his mother when he was a kid.
The excerpt finds Eddie stepping into the recording studio for the first time and opens up about the influence of his late mother on his musical journey. She was born in Memphis, where she met Eddie’s dad, who turned out to be a schemer. They eventually moved to Hawkins and while his father taught him how to play guitar, it was his mom who taught him how to love music. Later, she fell ill and passed away when Eddie was just six years old.
In a particularly revealing moment, Eddie says, “This music takes you on an adventure, to another world where you’re, like, facing down demons. Traveling into the depths of hell. My mom’s music was plane tickets. I guess that makes my music a portal to another dimension.”
Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus will be released on October 31, 2023. It is available to pre-order on Amazon.
