Up until now, every season of Stranger Things has been rated TV-14. It is a television content rating in the United States, indicating that the program is only suitable for children over 14 years old.

Interestingly, Season 5 is rated TV-MA, which is equivalent to an R-rating. It is only for the mature audience and unsuitable for children under 17, which is as high as the TV parental guideline ratings go.

This change suggests that season 5 might have content like strong language, more graphic violence, and possibly explicit sexual content. The Duffer Brothers have already hinted that the final season will have a lot of bloodshed and horror.
