Duffer Brothers have just given fans a thrilling new update on the upcoming final season of Stranger Things.

Filming for Season 5 officially wrapped up in December 2024, after a full year of production. The series is now deep in post-production, and the Duffers have revealed that editing for the first two episodes is complete.

First Two Episodes of Season 5 Are Complete

Ross Duffer recently took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos and announce the progress. He wrote,

“Chapters One and Two: locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE. “The Crawl” is our favorite, most eventful first episode since Season 1.”

He also revealed that Episode 2 has the craziest opening of the series. Ross further said that he has been told not to reveal the episode’s runtimes.

“The Vanishing of…” (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.”

“I would tell you runtimes, but I was told not to. At a later date, I guess.”

Could Episode 2 Be About Holly Wheeler’s Disappearance?

While the full title for episode 2 hasn’t been confirmed, many fans believe it will focus on the vanishing of Holly Wheeler, based on various leaks and clues. Ross Duffer’s cryptic remarks have only fueled the speculation.

In fact, the recently released teaser clip shows Karen and Holly Wheeler terrified by something unseen. Fans are now guessing that Vecna or possibly a Demogorgon will launch an attack on the Wheeler household in Episode 2’s opening scene. Some even believe that Karen may be seriously injured, or Ted Wheeler could die.

Still, some fans think that it may refer to Eleven, as it’s already been revealed that she will go missing at some point in the final season.

Stranger Things Season 5 will consist of eight episodes in total. The first two are already complete and ready to go, which is great news for the fans counting down the days. The first five episodes will premiere on November 26 and the remaining episodes will follow. One of the reasons for splitting season 5 into three volumes was to ensure the timely release of the content.

From everything we’ve seen and heard so far, Stranger Things 5 is gearing up to be an epic and emotional send-off for the beloved series.
