Finn Wolfhard Says He Wishes He Went to Therapy After Season 1

April 9, 2025

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been nearly a decade since Stranger Things first premiered on Netflix. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the show, is looking back at his emotional journey since that life-changing moment.

Wolfhard was only 13 years old when he was cast in the hit Netflix series. Overnight, he became a household name and was recognized around the globe as a young breakout star of the show. Now that Stranger Things is ending with season 5, the actor recently shared one thing he wishes he could have done differently.

Finn Wolfhard recently attended the premiere of his directorial debut, Hell of a Summer. During the red carpet, he told People that he would change one thing about his life experience.

“I don’t think I’d ever go back and do something over, but maybe I would go back to when the show first came out and blew up, and I would directly put myself into therapy, But it was so crazy and overnight, that there was not really any time to think about that.”

However, Wolfhard admits that making mistakes is just part of growing up.

“I would end up probably making a mistake in a different way anyways. I think childhood, and life in general, is about trial and error.”

Previously, Wolfhard has opened up about the toll fame has taken on his mental health. During a conversation with GQ magazine, he revealed that he suffers from anxiety and panic attacks.

“Everyone was like, ‘Look at him, he’s fine. He’s having the best time. But in reality, I was probably also developing and things were happening in my brain and anxieties were forming and things that I didn’t realize that I had to bury because of how I had to feel at work.”

The final season of Stranger Things is set to premiere later this year. While the filming finished back in December 2024, Netflix has not released any promos for season 5.

The much-anticipated teaser for Stranger Things 5 will likely be released during the TUDUM event on May 31, 2025.
