“It wasn’t hitting me this entire time—until yesterday. I was on set, and I was like, ‘Well, I have one more day left.’ And I started crying. I don’t actually like to cry at work. I’m a really emotional person, but I try to stay super strong. It made me feel so uncomfortable. Jake was like, ‘It’s good, you have to get it out!’ and I just started welling up.”

The actress also opened up about her deep connection to Eleven, revealing that stepping away from the character has been incredibly difficult.

“I have a really hard time talking about not being able to play her. I stepped away four days ago and it’s horrific. It’s grief. It was like saying goodbye to a part of my childhood and I definitely was not ready. It’s been 10 years and I am like, how much longer do you need?”

Brown also hinted that Eleven’s story isn’t over and there’s still more to explore.

“I feel like there was much more to tell with her. So I don’t know, 30 years time, we’ll see what happens.”
