In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Schnapp said that Stranger Things 5 will leave fans in tears.

“People are going to be truly devastated. As sad as it was, I’m so excited to see the world’s reaction to watching the finale because there’s not going to be a dry eye, it’s going to be sad. Not to be so negative, it is a really great season and people will love it.”

Schnapp also shared that he took a few sentimental items home from the Stranger Things set.

“Yes, I think I can say they gave me as like my finale gift. They gave a lot of things, but one of them was the Castle Byers, like a wooden sign that they used on the set. So I have that which I kept and then I took a bunch of stuff from my room. I got a sign poster with all the cast and the stuffers to keep. And I’ve so much stuff from this set. I took all the clothes.”

Duffer Brothers Hint at Big Reveals in Season 5

During the event, the Duffer Brothers also opened up about how Stranger Things: The First Shadow ties the upcoming season. However, they emphasized that it will not explain everything as the big reveals are left for season 5.

“We were writing season five as this show was being written and going into workshops and all of that, so the main thing we were working on with Kate and [director] Stephen [Daldry] was just making sure that all the mythology lined up, so that when you see the play and see season five, whatever order you see it, it all links and connects. Also that the play starts to tee up things that are going to be big reveals in season five without giving everything away, because we want season five to be able to stand on its own obviously. So it was a tightrope to walk for sure.”

Their remarks echo the sentiments shared in the new Netflix documentary, Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things The First Shadow. In one moment, the writer explained that a particular scene in the play was intentionally left vague to preserve a major reveal for the final season.

The countdown for Stranger Things 5 has begun as the final season is rumoured to debut in October 2025. The official announcement will likely be made pretty soon.
