Stranger Things 5 BTS Image Fuels Season 1 Flashback Theory
New behind-the-images from Stranger Things season 5 have been released, hinting at a potential flashback to season 1.
Stranger Things 5 is still in production after filming began earlier this year. While the final season will feature a time jump, new images from sets have suggested that the show might also revisit the past.
Stranger Things 5 Will Have Flashbacks to Season 1
Stranger Things executive producer and director, Shawn Levy recently shared new images from the sets on his Instagram account. One photo featured the Duffer Brothers, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and an unknown woman. However, what truly caught fans’ attention was the iconic letter wall in the background from season 1.
In the first season’s premiere, Will Byers was abducted by the Demogorgon and taken to the Upside Down. However, he managed to survive and spent a whole week in the alternate dimension. The letter wall became a crucial tool for Joyce Byers as she desperately tried to contact Will Byers in the Upside Down.
The return of the wall has fueled speculations that season 5 will have a flashback to those early events. This theory is further supported by another BTS image from the season 5 set.
Earlier this year, Ross Duffer shared a photo of Noah Schnapp lying beside a younger version of Will Byers from season 1. Additionally, a recently released Netflix video featured a young Will Byers falling—possibly reenacting a scene from his original encounter with the Upside Down.
Will Byers Season 1 Flashback Could Solve Upside Down Mystery
Will Byers is expected to take center stage in the upcoming season. Last year, Matt Duffer said that Will Byers’ storyline in season 5 would tie the whole series together.
There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the Upside Down as we don’t know its origins. It is still stuck to the day Will Byers went missing: November 6, 1984. The reasons behind Vecna’s interest in Will as well as how he managed to survive his time in the Upside Down, are still unclear.
The flashback to this exact moment can answer some of these questions. There might be a secret connection between Will Byers and Vecna especially since Will can feel the villain’s presence. he can still feel his presence. Will is likely to play a crucial role in the final battle of the series.
