As Stranger Things Season 5 inches closer, new details are emerging about the highly anticipated final chapter. A recent report has revealed that the show will set new records for both runtime and budget, making it the biggest season in Stranger Things history.

What began as a small, nostalgic series inspired by Stephen King has now evolved into one of Netflix’s most ambitious projects. Over the years, Stranger Things has grown from a supernatural mystery into a global phenomenon and the upcoming season promises to push the limits even further.

Stranger Things Season 5 Episodes Runtime

According to a new report from Puck, every episode of Stranger Things Season 5 will run between 90 and 120 minutes, meaning each installment will be over an hour long. This extended runtime will make the final season feel less like a TV show and more like a collection of eight feature-length movies.

For comparison, only two episodes of Season 4 were longer than 90 minutes. Though there was a 2-hour and 30-minute finale, which might remain the longest episode in the series.

This aligns with what the Duffer Brothers and the cast have been teasing for months, that Season 5 will feel like eight full-length blockbuster films rather than a traditional TV season.

While several leaks have attempted to reveal the exact runtime for each episode, the Duffer Brothers have clarified that most of those reports are inaccurate. The official runtimes are expected to be announced soon, likely alongside Netflix’s next major promotional reveal.

Record-Breaking Budget for Season 5

The same report claims that each episode of Stranger Things 5 carries an estimated budget of $50–60 million. That places it on the same level as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which cost around $58 million per episode.

In total, Stranger Things Season 5 is expected to cost a staggering $480 million, making it one of the most expensive TV productions in history. This even surpasses some major Hollywood films like Avengers: Endgame in total production spending.

Netflix Kicks Off Stranger Things 5 Promotions

After more than three years of anticipation, Stranger Things is finally returning and it looks like the wait will be worth it. With its cinematic runtime and massive budget, Season 5 is shaping up to be the ultimate conclusion to Netflix’s biggest original series.

Netflix has divided the season into three volumes, with Volume 1 premiering on November 26, 2025. This staggered release gives fans time to fully absorb each set of episodes before the next batch arrives.
