Joe Keery Opens Up About Steve and Dustin Friendship in Stranger Things 5
Stranger Things star Joe Keery recently opened up about his evolving on-screen dynamics with Gaten Matarazzo over the years.
The unlikely duo of Dustin Henderson and Steve Harrington has become a fan favourite since season 2. Their hilarious banter and goofy chemistry have added much-needed levity to the show’s otherwise dark and intense storyline.
Joe Keery Talks About Working Experience With Gaten Matarazzo
Joe Keery is promoting the upcoming Italian film Finally Dawn and recently sat down with Screen Rant for an interview. The actor also reflected on his journey working with Matrazzo. He said:
“Yeah, it’s hard sometimes for me to even remember, just because the dynamic has changed. He was a young actor, I don’t know, 11 or 12 or something, when we started. And, yeah, we’ve all kind of gone on this ride together, and everybody’s really seen them grow up.”
Joe also expressed how proud he is of the entire young cast, particularly Gaten.
But it’s been really cool for me to just watch all the younger cast members grow into themselves. Gaten, in particular, he’s doing all this amazing stuff. He was in Dear Evan Hansen, he did a Sweeney Todd, has done a bunch of different films, it’s just so cool to see. He’s such a talented guy, but he also seems very mature and focused on really doing what makes him happy.
The actor went on to say that he hopes to work with Matrazzo again in the future.
“It makes me feel really happy, and working with him has just been such a joy. I hope maybe, at some point in our distant future, we can do something else, one more time.”
Steve-Dustin Will Be the Highlight of Stranger Things 5
Fans of Steve-Dustin bromance are in for a treat in Stranger Things 5. The recently released teaser trailer shows the duo is back together again. In one scene Steve is consoling devastated Dustin, possibly mourning Eddie Munson’s death. Another shot shows the two in a car, with Dustin appearing shocked.
It is safe to say that the duo will once again be a major highlight of the final season. This time, they might be teaming up to defeat Vecna.
With their emotional connection and comedic chemistry, it’s clear the Steve-Dustin duo will play a key role once again.
