Stranger Things fans are waiting impatiently for the upcoming season 4. It has been a long wait as the filming has taken much longer than expected.

Production for season 4 was impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and has only recently wrapped. Netflix has announced that Stranger Things 4 will be released in 2022, two years since last season dropped.

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has teased season 4 by calling it messed up which might make fans freak out. The creators had already released a couple of teasers to keep fans engaged. Recently a new trailer for season 4 was released at Netflix’s TUDUM event, teasing a mysterious new location: The Creel House. But the promos have not given insight into the plot of the new season.

Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on the show, made an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”. While talking about Stranger Things, the actor said,

“Yeah, the show’s gonna be really messed up”. When Jimmy Fallen asked him to reveal something about, say, Hopper’s surprise resurrection or Eleven’s powers, Wolfhard maintained a straight face and said nothing. It seems that Netflix has trained him well to not reveal any leaks.

Finn Wolfhard’s statement that season 4 is messed up is in line with earlier comments from him and his co-stars about Stranger Things 4. Gaten Matarazzo has called it the scariest season yet, and Wolfhard previously described it as the darkest.

Stranger Things has grown bigger with each passing season. While some fans have been critical, it would be interesting to see how season 4 will take things to a higher level. The new addition to the cast can bring fresh life to the series. Nonetheless, it seems that Stranger Things season 4 will again prove to be a thriller ride for the fans.

Netflix has not given any exact release date for season 4, but it is likely to be released in the early half of 2022.
