Netflix Accidentally Confirms Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

April 30, 2025

It seems like Netflix has messed up again by accidentally leaking the Stranger Things season 5 release date.

Netflix has suffered multiple leaks over the last few months, especially concerning the final season of Stranger Things. In an effort to curb the leaks on social media, the company has taken pretty solid actions. But in doing so, they may have unintentionally revealed the crucial release date for the final season.

Netflix’s DMCA Confirms Stranger Things 5 Release Date

Just a few days ago, some content from Stranger Things 5 was leaked on the internet. The leaked document included the character guides, merchandise designs and even posters. As the images spread rapidly across the platform, Netflix responded by issuing DMCA takedown requests to remove the content.

MarkScan was issuing the notices on behalf of Netflix and ironically, the DMCA notices themselves have a massive leak. In the email, the company states that Stranger Things Season 5 is set to premiere on November 27, 2025.

Here’s an excerpt from the email:

“The reported Tweets are unlawfully disseminating leaked content from the TV series “Stranger Things Season 5,” for which our client, Netflix, Inc., is the exclusive rights holder. Please be advised that “Stranger Things Season 5″ is scheduled for official release on November 27, 2025, and the material in question constitutes an unauthorized pre-release disclosure. The distribution of this content is a clear and serious infringement of our client’s intellectual property rights and may result in substantial commercial harm.”

Netflix’s Release Strategy for Stranger Things 5:

Netflix Accidentally Confirms Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

Interestingly, the release date lines up with the earlier leaks. Back in January, a user decoded Netflix’s API which also mentioned November 27 as the release date. Soon after, a major security breach at Netflix resulted in the leak of several Season 5 assets. That leak also suggested a two-part release plan: Volume 1 arriving on October 10, followed by Volume 2 on November 27.

Now, the DMCA notices only reference one date, leaving fans to wonder about the release plan. Many are speculating whether November 27 is for the second volume only, or could Netflix release the whole season all at once? Given that the recent leak centered around content from Volume 2, it’s possible that the email was referring to the release date for the second half of season 5 only.

The official announcement will likely be made in the coming weeks. The promo from the final season will also be unveiled during the TUDUM event on May 31, 2025.
